Nantucket Oval Cherry Bases: Solid Cherry Bases are custom-made to fit Oval Molds. The bases are slotted to hold the staves for you to weave with. Nantucket staves are made with Strand Cane, Oak, Cherry, or Reeds. Basket Staves are paramount for weaving Nantucket Lightship Baskets and purses. The Oval Cherry Bases are slotted, which means there is a small opening to grasp your staves into. Once the staves are firmly in place, you can weave your material over and under them and create your pattern.
