Natural Strand Cane: To determine the size of the cane, measure from the center of one hole to the hole next to it in the wood. Natural Strand Cane is the bark-peel of the rattan palm that grows in Indonesia. Cane has variations of color and shows growth marks. The individual strands are a variety of lengths. Natural Strand Cane must be woven wet. Soaking Cane in water makes it much more pliable and durable. Cane can be stained, painted, or oiled. Natural Cane is used for furniture seats that have holes drilled into the perimeter of the chair seat. 500 feet of Strand Cane will complete two average 15" x 15" chair seats. HH Perkins calls 500-foot coils of cane half bunches, half coils, and half hanks.
Half Coils of Strand Cane comes with 12ft of binder to cover the drilled holes in the seat. Cane weaves Nantucket Baskets, Reed Baskets, Fishing Pole Handles, Teapot handles, and many home decorations and DIY projects.
